About Precise Flight
- Cirrus specialistCirrus-focused company, not an authorized service center
Precise Flight designs and makes aviation systems and parts in Bend, Oregon. Its main products are aircraft lighting, oxygen systems, SpeedBrakes and precision tube assemblies. It works from a 10,000 square foot design and production facility next to the runway at Bend Airport.
Two aviation consultants started the company in 1980. They saw that general aviation aircraft were getting faster, but there was no way to slow them down without shock cooling the engine. In 1982, the company launched its first product, SpeedBrakes, a spoiler system for general aviation aircraft. It has since grown from three employees and one product to ten product lines.
Precise Flight makes aircraft lighting for outside and inside use. Its range includes HID and LED landing, taxi, navigation and egress lighting. It also builds custom wing tip lighting assemblies and offers engineering and testing services. It supplies lighting for makers such as Gulfstream, Bell, Cessna, Mooney, Airbus Helicopters, Epic Aircraft, Quest Aircraft and LX7 Aircraft. The HID landing light system on the Gulfstream G650 is one example.
The Pulselite System pulses an aircraft's existing lights. It has two aims: to cut bird strikes and to make aircraft easier for others to see. The company says it is installed on more than 25,000 aircraft, including airliners, business jets, general aviation aircraft and helicopters. It includes patented TCAS integration. The company also says aircraft with the system see up to 60% fewer bird strikes. Qantas and Alaska Airlines use it, and it flies in Learjets, Bell helicopters and Airbus helicopters. In August 2026, the company announced FAA and EASA STC approval for installing the system on the Embraer E175.
Its oxygen line covers fixed and portable systems and the parts that general aviation needs. The fixed oxygen system in the Cirrus SR-22 is its product. Precision tube fabrication covers fuel, oxygen, de-icing and hydraulic lines and other bent metal tubing. The company also makes environmental control systems, electromechanical controls and the TwistLock beverage locking system. It offers certification, engineering testing and manufacturing support services.
Customers include Airbus, Alaska Airlines, Bell, Bombardier, Cessna, Gulfstream, Mooney, Piper, Qantas, Textron Aviation, Cirrus, Daher and Robinson Helicopters. They range from aircraft makers and airlines to fleet operators and owners of a single aircraft. Precise Flight makes parts under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system through National Quality Assurance. It is a member of the National Business Aviation Association and Helicopter Association International.
