Hillsboro Aviation, Inc. is an aviation services company at Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) in Hillsboro, Oregon. It was founded in 1980 as Hillsboro Helicopters, a one-helicopter operation, and today offers charter, aircraft sales and management, a maintenance and avionics service center, an FBO and parts sales. Max Lyons, who joined as a helicopter student in 1983, is owner and CEO.
Services
The service center is an FAA Part 145 repair station with AS9110 certification. Hillsboro is an authorized service center for Airbus Helicopters, Bell, HondaJet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Cirrus, Robinson, Lycoming and Goodrich, and also works on MD Helicopters, Hawker Beechcraft, Piper and various turboprops and light jets. Its mechanics and avionics technicians average over 20 years of experience. Work covers scheduled inspections, pre-purchase inspections, AD and SB compliance, STC modifications, heavy maintenance, component overhaul and AOG support.
The avionics shop sells and installs Garmin, Avidyne, L3, Bendix King and S-Tec equipment and handles full panel work, ADS-B, WAAS upgrades, cabin systems, CAD wiring diagrams and IFR, VFR and RVSM certification.
FBO and facilities
The company's 51,000 square foot headquarters, built in 2016 on the north end of the airport, includes a 32,000 square foot hangar with a 120 foot wide door, 27 feet 11.5 inches high. The FBO is available 24/7/365 with advance notice. Hillsboro has flown over 1.2 million hours of helicopter and airplane contract and charter work since 1980.
