Who we are
The Flying Engineer is an independent aviation directory and events calendar, online since 2012. We list aviation companies by service and country, keep a calendar of air shows, conferences and trade fairs, and publish articles about the industry. The site is run by Publishing Office SRL, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Who writes and edits
Radu Balas, the founder, writes most of our articles. Adrian Man edits them before they go live. Each article shows the name of the author, the date it was published and, when it has changed since, the date it was last updated. Guest authors are named as such.
How we report data articles
Many of our articles are built on numbers. Those numbers come from the exhibitor and sponsor lists on our events calendar, from information organisers publish, from company websites and from data we hold in the directory. We state the source on each article and the date the data was collected.
We do not say more than the data shows. If a list is incomplete, we say so. If a number is an estimate, we call it an estimate. If we cannot verify something, we leave it out.
Company pages
Company pages are built from public information: the company website, regulator registers, trade show listings and press releases. Companies can claim their page and correct it, and can ask us to change or remove it through the correction and removal form.
Sponsored and paid content
Some content on the site is paid for: featured listings, event pages and sponsored articles. Sponsored articles are clearly labelled as sponsored. Paid listings do not change what we write in our data articles and do not affect how companies are counted or ranked in them. Links in paid content do not pass ranking credit.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts, such as sorting through exhibitor lists or summarising long documents. Every article is checked and edited by a person before it is published, and a person is responsible for what it says.
Corrections
We make mistakes, and we would rather hear about them than not. If you find an error, email info@theflyingengineer.com with the address of the page and what you believe is wrong. We correct errors promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article, with the date the change was made. Small fixes such as typos are made without a note.
If an article about your company is accurate but you would prefer it did not mention you, tell us why and we will consider it. We do not remove accurate information just because a company asks.
