About manufacturers

Aerospace manufacturers and component makers

This category lists companies that make aircraft, helicopters and the parts that go into them: aerostructures, fasteners, cabin interiors, avionics, safety equipment, coatings and raw materials such as aluminium. Most sell to aircraft manufacturers and their main suppliers, with spare parts going to airlines and maintenance organisations.

When sourcing from an aerospace manufacturer, check its approvals and quality system. Producers of certified aircraft parts usually hold a production approval, such as EASA Part-21 Subpart G or an FAA production certificate, and design organisations hold EASA Part-21 Subpart J. AS9100 is the standard quality management certification across the industry, and Nadcap accreditation applies to special processes such as heat treatment, coatings and non-destructive testing.

There are 138 manufacturers listed, most in the United States (61), the United Kingdom (13), France (12) and Germany (8). Examples include:

Complete aircraft builders have their own page for aircraft manufacturers. For replacement components, see aircraft parts suppliers, and for electronics, aircraft avionics. Our articles rank the largest aircraft engine manufacturers and show which country builds the most aircraft.
