Common questions

- What does an aircraft interiors company do?
- It designs, builds, fits or repairs the inside of an aircraft cabin. That covers seats, panels, carpets, leather, galleys, toilets, lighting, window shades and in-flight entertainment. Some companies do a whole cabin. Others make one part and sell it to the cabin makers.
- What is a completion center?
- A completion center turns a new, empty business jet or airliner into a finished cabin for its owner. It designs the layout, builds the furniture, fits everything and gets the work approved. Large VIP cabins can take a year or more.
- How long does a cabin refurbishment take?
- A simple refresh of seats, carpets and soft furnishings can take a few weeks. A full refurbishment with new furniture, galleys or entertainment can take several months. The company will give you a plan once it has seen the aircraft.
- What approvals does cabin work need?
- Any change to a certified aircraft must be approved. In Europe this is an EASA approval, and in the United States an FAA approval such as an STC. Cabin materials must also pass fire tests. Ask the company which approvals it holds for your aircraft type.
- How do I choose an interiors company?
- Look for work on your aircraft type, the approvals for your country, and photos of past cabins. Ask for references, a written timeline and a price for the full job, including certification. Use the filters above to find companies by type of work.
