Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Flying Engineer collects, why, and what you can do about it. Flying Engineer (theflyingengineer.com) is operated by Publishing Office SRL, Calea Turzii 111c, ap. 6, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, which is the data controller. Contact: privacy@theflyingengineer.com.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely, never in plain text) when you register or claim a listing.
• Listing information: company details, contact details and photos that companies or we publish on listing pages. Company listings are mostly business information drawn from public sources such as company websites.
• Quote requests and messages: your name, email, phone and message when you contact a company or us through the site.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive the plan bought, the amount and a payment reference, but never your full card number.
• Usage data: pages viewed, rough location from your IP address, device and browser type, used to count visits and keep the site secure.

Why we use it

• To run the directory, your account and any plan you buy (contract).
• To pass your quote request to the company you chose (contract, or your request).
• To email companies about their listing, page views and plans (legitimate interest; you can opt out at any time).
• To measure and improve the site and keep it secure (legitimate interest).
• For analytics cookies and advertising measurement, only with your consent.
• To meet legal and tax obligations.

Who we share it with

We don't sell personal data. We use trusted providers to run the site, each bound by data processing terms:

• Vercel (website hosting and privacy-friendly visit statistics)
• Supabase (database and accounts, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany)
• Stripe (payments)
• Resend and Google Workspace (email)
• Google Analytics and Meta (only if you accept cookies)

Quote requests go to the company you contacted. Some providers are based outside the EU; where data leaves the EU, it is protected by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

How long we keep it

Account and listing data are kept while your account or listing exists. Quote requests and messages are kept for up to two years. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires, usually ten years in Romania. You can ask us to delete your data sooner.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or download your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Companies can ask us to correct or remove their listing through the correction and removal form. To use any of these rights, email privacy@theflyingengineer.com. You can also complain to the Romanian data protection authority (ANSPDCP) or the authority in your own country.

Children

The site is not meant for children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. See also our cookie policy and terms and conditions.
