How winners are chosen
Every shortlisted company is scored the same way. The scoring is published here before nominations open and does not change during the awards.
40%
Checked facts
Approvals and safety audits (EASA, FAA, ARGUS, WYVERN, IS-BAO, AS9100 and similar), fleet or facilities, years in business. We check each claim against the issuing body or the company's own documents.
30%
Customer response
Every shortlisted company receives the same realistic request, sent the same way. We score how fast and how completely it is answered.
30%
Judging panel
Independent aviation professionals score the shortlist. Judges declare any links to a company and do not score companies they are connected to.
The three social media awards are scored differently: 50% public numbers we measure (audience growth, views and engagement during 2026) and 50% the judging panel, for content quality and accuracy. Bought followers or views disqualify an entry.
Paying us does not help. Plans, Featured placements and advertising have no effect on scoring, and judges do not see which companies pay.

Do I need to be listed on Flying Engineer?
No. Companies that are not listed can be nominated and win. If a nominated company is not listed, we add a basic page so the shortlist can link to it.

Who are the judges?
Independent aviation professionals. Their names and backgrounds are published on this page before nominations open.
What do winners receive?
The title, a winner badge for their website and a write up on Flying Engineer. Winners and finalists can also choose to buy a promotion package after the results are published. It is optional and sold only after judging is complete.
Can sponsors influence the results?
No. Category sponsors are labelled as sponsors and have no part in judging.
Want your company considered?
