About Covington Aircraft

Covington Aircraft Engines is a family owned engine overhaul company in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. It was founded in 1972. It specializes in Pratt and Whitney PT6A turbine engines and R-985 and R-1340 radial engines. The company says it has grown each year for 50 years.

Covington is a Pratt and Whitney Canada certified Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility. It says it is the only US owned Designated Overhaul Facility. It supports corporate, agricultural and government aircraft. The home page also lists work for the military and for humanitarian operators.

The company does all stages of engine repair and overhaul in house. It carries out non-destructive testing of critical parts and uses computer controlled machines for machining, grinding and balancing. An on-site quality control inspector oversees each step. Finished engines are tested and run in at its own engine test facilities. It also does engine installations and keeps a full stock of engine parts and accessories.

Expert field service is offered worldwide, around the clock, when an aircraft is grounded. The shipping address is 201 E Airport Road. The site notes that Tulsa International Airport is nearby, and Okmulgee Regional Airport sits next to the facility.

Paul Abbott became one of the first employees in 1972 and later bought the company with his wife Betty. Their son Aaron leads it today. A share of profits supports missionaries, and mission aircraft are serviced at lower prices. The website has a contact form, a phone number, (918) 756-7862, Spanish and Portuguese support and a news sign up.
