RTX is the US aerospace and defence company formerly known as Raytheon Technologies. It was formed in April 2020 by the merger of Raytheon Company and United Technologies Corporation and took the RTX name in 2023. Its headquarters is in Arlington, Virginia.
The company says it connects the world through the power of flight and protects it with defence technologies. It describes itself as an US$80 billion global business.
Three businesses
- Collins Aerospace: avionics, communication systems, flight controls, interiors and other aerospace systems for commercial and defence customers
- Pratt & Whitney: aircraft engines and auxiliary power units, including the Geared Turbofan (GTF) family for the Airbus A320neo and the GTF Advantage
- Raytheon: defence systems for the US government and its allies, including missiles, radars, air traffic management and counter-drone technology
History
Raytheon Company was founded in 1922 and became known for electronics and radar. United Technologies began in 1934 and built aircraft engines and aerospace systems. The two merged in 2020. In 2023 the group renamed itself RTX and combined its defence units into a single Raytheon business.
