ERG Aerospace

ERG Aerospace Corporation makes foam products from metal, carbon and ceramic. Its patented material is called Duocel. The company says it was established in 1967 and has about 100 skilled employees.

The foam material is made in Nevada, and finished products are made in California. The company says all its products are made in the United States. Its headquarters moved to Sparks, Nevada, on January 1, 2022. The California facility focuses on production, engineering, research and development, and precision manufacturing.

For aircraft, ERG makes bird strike protection for helicopter and eVTOL blades and turbine fan blades. It also makes hold down release mechanisms, bolt catchers with little to no recoil, air oil separators and energy absorbers.

Other products include silicon carbide mirrors for space, waterless two phase cold plates for data centers and AI systems, heat exchangers, phase change heat buffers and flame arrestors. Uses also include batteries, filters, CO2 scrubbers, biomedical items and cryogenic tanks.

Until the mid 1990s most of the company's work was for military use. This included critical foam components for reconnaissance satellites and other aerospace systems. After the Cold War, its technologies were opened to commercial, scientific and non classified military customers.

Today ERG serves aerospace, defense, semiconductor, biomedical and scientific fields. Its machine shop covers more than 20,000 square feet and uses manual and CNC machines. Customers can order samples online.

ERG says its quality system is AS9100 certified and that it runs testing in house. Its stated values are integrity, customer service, innovation and respect. It is a certified small business under NAICS 336412 and a service disabled veteran owned small business.
