About 3Chem Corporation

3CHEM Corporation makes protective and decorative coatings for aircraft. The company says it has more than 60 years of experience in laboratory controlled formulation, testing, and manufacturing of advanced protective coatings. It works with airlines and aircraft makers worldwide to develop products to meet their specifications.

Its product range includes polyurethane, epoxy and epoxy primer coatings, exterior and interior coatings, anti-skid coatings, general touch up coatings, specialty coatings, paint removers and thinners. Brands listed on the product guide include 3Chem, CamoKote, FlyGloss, Glair, Hybrid-Strip, SocoGlaze, Sylka and Take Off 55.

The Glair G30 high solid polyurethane coating and the FlyGloss basecoat and clearcoat system are qualified to AMS 3095A. The company says both are approved for use on Airbus and Boeing aircraft fuselage exteriors. The website also shows ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D accreditation.

Color development helps airlines and aircraft owners choose colors for a fleet or a private aircraft, using digital color tools, a large portfolio of solid gloss colors, and special effects such as mica, pearlescent and color changing finishes. Custom color matching uses X-Rite iMatch software and aims to meet OEM color difference limits. The team can also match gloss levels within plus or minus 3 gloss units.

Technical support includes product and application training for end users. Courses cover company products, aerospace coating practices, health and safety, color formulating, and mixing and application demonstrations. Courses range from beginner to advanced and are offered in several languages. On site technical support is also available.

The company runs consignment and virtual warehouse programs to help MROs and airlines manage shelf life sensitive material. Its hazardous material specialists are IATA certified and ship material by land, air and sea. The website says it can deliver an AOG order within 24 hours anywhere in the US.

The main manufacturing operation moved in 2008 to a 100,000 square foot facility in Oklahoma City, in partnership with H-I-S Paint, Inc. A color matching laboratory and distribution facility is in Florida. Other locations include Bogota in Colombia, Guadalajara in Mexico and Mumbai in India.
