About Wingbits

Wingbits is a flight tracking company based in Stockholm, Sweden. It runs a network of ADS-B receivers and sells live and historical flight data from that network. The company says it was started in 2023 by founders who met at an accelerator program.

The network is built from antennas set up by community members, who earn rewards for sharing data. Wingbits says it has more than 4,000 active devices and over 100 countries covered. It says the network tracks about 150,000 unique flights a day and delivers 95 percent of data within two seconds. It also says its data is cryptographically signed so it can be traced to a device.

Customers can get live data, historical data in several file formats, or custom data. The site offers a data sample and a pricing page, and it has a dashboard and a map for exploring flights. It also points to a chat tool for asking about live flight data.

The company names four groups of users. They are airports, analysts and consultants, fleet operators such as airlines, charter operators and cargo carriers, and government agencies and contractors.

Wingbits lists a Stockholm address on Regeringsgatan. Structured data on the site shows 11 employees. Its timeline notes the public beta in late 2023 and funding rounds in 2024. The about page also says the company wants to replace the old model, where flight data came only from unpaid volunteers, with a network that rewards its contributors.
