Westjet Air Center

Westjet Air Center is a fixed base operator at Rapid City, South Dakota. It is family owned and run by the Rydstrom family. The site says Don and Linda Rydstrom have run it for more than 40 years, with their daughter Miranda Rydstrom and her husband Bijan Maleki next in line. The executive terminal is open 24 hours a day. It has quiet rooms for rest, flight planning space, meeting rooms, catering, a vending and kitchen area, and coffee at no charge. A concierge arranges hotels and rental cars, and courtesy vans run to the main terminal. There are four heated corporate hangars with about 70 thousand square feet of space. Jet and piston mechanics work on site, with emergency maintenance at all hours.

For fuel, the center sells Jet A and 100LL. It is a Phillips 66 Aviation Dealer and says it has dealt with Phillips since 1957. It runs six refueling trucks with 2200 to 5000 gallon tanks, and has 95,000 gallons of Jet A storage and 20,000 gallons of 100LL storage. A recent expansion brings Jet A storage to 160,000 gallons. It says it supplies fuel to the commercial airlines in Rapid City.

Other line services include four tugs, de-ice, lavatory service, ground power, oxygen service and baggage handling. Line staff are NATA Safety 1st trained. Flight training at the field is run by a tenant, Plane Training. The company also supports local charities and Angel Flight volunteer pilots.
