About Weldon Pump

Weldon Pump, LLC is a designer and manufacturer of fuel pumps, motors and valves at 640 Golden Oak Parkway, Oakwood Village, Ohio. The company traces its history to the Weldon Tool Company, founded in Cleveland in 1918 as a maker of precision tooling. The pump division was formed in 1942 to build alcohol de-icing pumps for military aircraft during the Second World War, including the B-24 Liberator, and received the Army-Navy E Award in 1944. After the war the product line grew to include fuel, liquid transfer, hydraulic, lubrication and circulating pumps for aviation and industrial customers. Weldon Pump is no longer part of Weldon Tool and today supplies the aviation and defence industries from a facility the website says was fully modernised in 2023.

Products

  • Primary fuel pumps, boost and emergency pumps, injection pumps, hydraulic pumps, fluid transfer pumps, jettison pumps and thermal management pumps for aircraft, military vehicles, ground support vehicles and UAVs
  • Brushed and brushless DC motors for pump drives, environmental control systems, cabin and cargo doors, flap drives, hoists and custom applications, described on the site as FAA PMA approved and DO-160 tested
  • Inline check valves, regulator valves, inline relief valves, fuel drain valves and oil drain valves
  • Custom engineering for new development requirements and existing problems

General aviation

The general aviation page says Weldon has supplied pumps built to OEM specifications since the beginning of the general aviation market and lists the airframe manufacturers it supplies, among them Air Tractor, American Champion, Aviat, Beechcraft, Cessna, Cirrus Design, Cub Crafters, Daher, Diamond, Kodiak, Mooney, Piper, Pipistrel, Robinson Helicopter, Tecnam and Viking Air. Weldon has also established FAA PMA replacements for Dukes and Parker fuel pumps for current and legacy general aviation aircraft, and the site carries a worldwide directory of regional distributors.

Work on Cirrus aircraft

Cirrus Design appears in Weldon's published list of general aviation manufacturers it supplies with pumps built to OEM specifications. The site does not give the part numbers used on individual Cirrus models, so owners and shops should confirm the pump fitted to their SR20 or SR22 with Weldon or a Cirrus parts source before ordering.

Approvals

The website states that the Ohio manufacturing and engineering facility is ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certified, and that the company operates an FAA, EASA and CAA repair station for aircraft, defence and high performance applications.
