BLR Aerospace

BLR Aerospace engineers, certifies, manufactures and markets aerodynamic performance systems for helicopters and aeroplanes. Founded in 1992 as Boundary Layer Research, the company is located at Snohomish County Paine Field Airport in Everett, Washington. It works as a technology partner to OEMs and the aftermarket, and its products are installed on helicopters and aeroplanes worldwide.

Products

• FastFin System for Bell helicopters, proven on more than a thousand aircraft, and for the Airbus H125 (AS350 series), AS355 and UH-60 Black Hawk
• Winglet Systems for Beechcraft King Air aircraft, proven on more than a thousand King Airs, with a new FAA supplemental type certificate for replacement King Air 350 and 360 winglets
• Whisper Prop 7-blade propellers for the King Air 300 series and Beechcraft 1900 C/D, distributed globally by BLR in partnership with MT-Propeller, with FAA and EASA STC approvals
• Vortex generators and tailboom strakes
• A dual cargo mirror system for the Airbus AS350/H125, distributed by Boggi Aeronautics

History and approvals

Milestones listed on the site include the first vortex generator STC, the first winglet STC, a NASA licence agreement, the first tailboom strake STC, the first Bell FastFin STC, the formation of BLR Aerospace, the first King Air winglet STC, long-term contracts with Beechcraft, Bell Helicopter and Airbus Helicopters, and the Airbus H125 and UH-60 FastFin STCs. The AS355 FastFin STC has also been approved by the New Zealand CAA. BLR publishes brochures, data sheets and flight manual supplements on request.

Sales, technical support and AOG contacts are listed on the site, with a dealer network and industry partners. Operators can register to be told when new STC approvals are granted.
