Aithre

Aithre Inc. is a US maker of aviation health and safety electronics and oxygen systems, founded by pilots. The company was started after founder Jim Ruttler, a patent attorney, private pilot and RV-10 builder, and his family ran out of oxygen at 17,000 to 18,000 feet density altitude on the way home from AirVenture 2016 without any warning. Its first product, a portable carbon monoxide detector with an iOS app, was launched through Sporty's; Aithre showed at the AirVenture 2019 Innovation Showcase and its oxygen systems were later fitted as standard in Sling TSi aircraft by Midwest Panel Builders. The site gives an address in Port Orchard, Washington, at airport 4WA9.

Products are sold online and through retailers and installers listed on the site, with Turbo oxygen service centres for the concentrators. Aithre holds several US patents on health monitoring and oxygen integration with priority dates from 2016, and its site describes a patent portfolio covering health monitoring, automated co-pilot assistance, augmented reality and smart aviation headsets. The company also publishes product instructions, software downloads and a technical support chatbot trained on its manuals, and reports a new oxygen system specification for light sport aircraft (ASTM 3810) on its blog.
