About Overland Aviation
Overland Aviation is a full-service fixed base operator in Williston, North Dakota. It sits at the Williston Basin International Airport, which it calls the newest commercial-service airport in the United States.
The company opened in 2011, mainly offering flight training and aerial imagery. Since then it has grown into a wider aviation service company. It now offers ground handling, refueling for general aviation and commercial aircraft, deicing, hangar space, and scheduled and on-demand maintenance. It also runs air charter under FAA Part 135.
The FBO facility covers 51,000 square feet. It has an executive passenger terminal and pilot lounge, and a private terminal for crew change flights that carry oil workers. It also has management and rental office space. The heated hangar fits aircraft up to a Gulfstream G650. A U.S. Customs facility sits inside the building and operates as a port of entry around the clock, all year. The company says average turn times for tech stops are under 30 minutes. Jet fuel and avgas are available, along with concierge services and lounges with snacks and drinks.
Charter work ranges from small to large jets, piston aircraft and helicopters. It covers private charter, medical flights, specialized charter and commercial charter.
Overland also flies aerial tours, aerial photography and pipeline and power line patrol. It holds an FAA low altitude authorization waiver and a Commercial Air Tour Certificate. Tours of the Williston Basin use a Cessna Skyhawk 172 and carry two or three passengers plus the pilot.
Its flight school teaches private pilot, ground school, instrument rating and commercial courses, and adds complex and high performance endorsements. A pilot sourcing service helps aircraft owners who need a pilot.
The base sits in the Bakken Shale region, which the company calls the largest continuous oil reserve in the United States. It serves western North Dakota and eastern Montana.
