McFarlane Aviation Products

McFarlane Aviation is an FAA-PMA aircraft parts manufacturer and distributor at 684 East 1700 Road, Baldwin City, Kansas, on the Vinland Valley Aerodrome (K64). Dave McFarlane started the company in 1971 as a part-time aircraft repair and restoration business, moved it to Vinland Valley in 1979 and incorporated it in 1986. The first McFarlane PMA parts were improved Cessna seat rollers and washers in 1989, and since 1993 the company has focused on developing, testing, manufacturing and distributing FAA-PMA replacement parts. It now holds design approval and FAA-PMA for over 2,700 replacement parts for several makes of aircraft and stocks more than 40,000 parts for same day shipping on orders placed by 3 pm.

Products and brands

• McFarlane: push-pull engine controls, swaged flight control cables and chains, seat rails, steering rods, rudder pedals, carb heat parts and other airframe parts for Cessna, Piper, Grumman and Beechcraft aircraft.
• McFarlane Alaska: Alaskan Bushwheels, wheels and brakes and tailwheel products for backcountry aircraft.
• Airglas: skis and related equipment, built since 1955 and AS9100 certified.
• Airforms: FAA-PMA engine baffle kits and components for Beechcraft, Cessna, Cirrus, Grumman, Mooney and Piper aircraft.
• C J Fuel Pumps: FAA-PMA direct replacements for Dukes and Weldon fuel pumps, with an FAA and EASA repair station for overhauls and exchanges.
• PMA Products: hundreds of FAA-PMA parts from airframe to engine applications.
• Flight Resource: FAA STC holder for MT composite propellers on many aircraft types.

The company also distributes other brands, including AeroLEDs lighting, Skybolt fasteners and AWI exhaust parts, and offers custom design and manufacturing for OEMs, maintenance, repair and overhaul on selected products, and custom replacements for obsolete parts.

Cirrus

Flight Resource, part of the McFarlane family, lists FAA approved STCs for MT propellers on the Cirrus SR20 (3 blade), SR22 (3 blade) and SR22 and SR22T (4 blade), with data sheets and flight test comparisons published on the STC page. Airforms, another McFarlane brand, makes FAA-PMA replacement baffle kits and components for Cirrus aircraft.

Facility

The Baldwin City site has grown from 7,000 square feet of added space in 1997 to four buildings with more than 100,000 square feet after extensions in 2012 and 2020, with a fifth building planned. The company says it has facilities in Kansas, Alaska and North Carolina, over 4,000 PMAs across the group, and represents over 40 brands. Key manufacturing strengths are push-pull controls, swaged cable assemblies and sheet metal and machined components.
