About B&C Specialty Products
- Cirrus specialistCirrus-focused company, not an authorized service center
B&C Specialty Products Inc. designs and builds aircraft electrical systems and components in Newton, Kansas, for both experimental and certified aircraft. The company dates its work to 1980. Its first product, a lightweight dynamo for Continental-powered VariEzes now sold as the 200G alternator, was developed in 1986 and was followed by the first lightweight starter for Lycoming engines in general aviation, a line of alternators and linear voltage regulators, and a lightweight starter for Continental engines. By the 1990s it had developed standby alternator systems and 90-degree oil filter adapters for certified aircraft. Founder Bill Bainbridge, an electrician and pilot, started the company in his garage; it is run today by his son Nathan Bainbridge. The site notes that B&C parts flew on the Rutan Voyager round-the-world flight in 1986 and on the White Knight high-altitude aircraft.

The BC410-1 standby alternator (STC/PMA) lists the Cirrus SR20 and SR22 among its eligible aircraft, alongside the Beech Bonanza, Piper PA-28 and PA-32 and Mooney Ovation. In October 2026 the company's alternator-only replacement page, for owners who already have a BC410 system installed, priced a new BC410-1 at US$2,520 outright with no core, supplied with an MS9134-01 mounting gasket; overhauled units on an exchange basis are available on request. Hartzell Aviation's Cirrus engine accessory application list also shows the BC410-1 as the third alternator (Cirrus part 13565-001) on the SR20 with the IO-360-ES and on the SR22 with the IO-550. Prices change; check the product page.
