Komax

The Komax Group, headquartered in Dierikon, Switzerland, develops and manufactures machines and systems for automated wire processing. The group describes itself as a pioneer in semi-automatic and fully automatic wire processing and supplies production systems, quality assurance modules, test equipment, software and networking solutions from a single source. It follows a multibrand strategy: alongside the Komax brand, the portfolio includes Schleuniger, adaptronic, Cirris, DiIT, Hosver and WUSTEC. In 2025, Komax Testing, Cirris and adaptronic were combined as Komax Group Quality Solutions.

Aerospace: automated EWIS production

For more than ten years Komax Aerospace has worked with OEMs of aircraft, helicopters and eVTOL aircraft on production platforms for semi-automated and fully automated assembly of electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS). The site notes that wire harnesses for aircraft have usually been made by hand in small quantities, and that advanced air mobility and electrified aircraft call for higher productivity. Aerospace-related products and features include:

• Automated conductor assembly with digitally supplied assembly data and logged connector quality
• Laser marking of cables and conductors with an individually configured ID code for traceability
• Inline or end-of-line quality assurance using industrial image processing
• EasyWiring software that provides harness assembly instructions for production and prototyping
• The NT 800-1 high-voltage cable and harness tester for up to 131,072 test points, and the NT 800-5 low-voltage tester for very large test items, including harnesses in installed condition

Products and services

The product range covers cutting and stripping, crimping, harness taping and tubing, testing and quality tools, and Smart Factory software for data preparation and process optimisation. CARE service agreements cover performance, availability and longevity of installed machines. The group has more than 100 locations on six continents, with sales, service, production and software development sites listed by country on its site.
