Continental Aerospace Technologies

Continental Aerospace Technologies is a piston aircraft engine manufacturer headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, where it has been based since the 1960s. The company traces its roots to the Continental Motors Manufacturing Company, founded in Muskegon, Michigan in 1905. It makes gasoline (AvGas) and Jet-A piston engines, factory rebuilt engines, genuine and PMA parts, and runs a factory service center and a technical training academy. It also has a German facility in St. Egidien for its Jet-A engines.

Engines

• Certified AvGas engines in the 200, 300, 400 and 500 series. The 500 series covers the IO-520, TSIO-520, GTSIO-520, IO-550 and TSIO-550, six-cylinder fuel injected engines from 250 to 375 hp in naturally aspirated and turbocharged form; the TSIO-550-K is also approved for 94UL fuel
• Certified Jet-A engines CD-135, CD-155, CD-170 and CD-300 (135 to 300 hp), with more than 8,800 produced, certified by the FAA, EASA and other authorities; the CD-155 is available as a complete firewall-forward retrofit kit
• Titan experimental engines X-340 and X-370, with an online engine builder
• Factory new, factory rebuilt and overhauled engines, plus an in-stock engine list and online quote request

Cirrus

Continental's 500 series page names Cirrus, with Columbia, Mooney and Tecnam, among the aircraft makers using its 550 series engines with cross-flow cylinder heads. The family comes as the naturally aspirated IO-550 and the turbocharged TSIO-550, and the page describes the engines as producing more than their rated horsepower at high altitude.
