About AMST

AMST makes flight simulators and training devices for pilots and aircrew. It is based in Ranshofen, Austria, and also has a company in Nieuw-Vennep in the Netherlands. Its work falls into three business areas: civil aviation, aerospace medicine and visual systems.

In civil aviation, AMST builds flight simulation training devices. These include a Level D full flight simulator and the DESDEMONA motion simulator. It also offers flight training devices, such as motion-based and fixed AIRFOX UPRT trainers for upset prevention and recovery. For spatial disorientation, it supplies the AIRFOX DISO and the AIRFOX Advanced Spatial Disorientation Trainer. AMST also gives night vision training, plus spatial disorientation training and demonstrations. It helps training organisations with ATO setup and architectural design.

The aerospace medicine range is wide. For high-G training it makes a human training centrifuge and a short arm human centrifuge. AMST says the human centrifuge produces the fast G-onset and sustained G-forces of modern fighter aircraft. Air forces can use it for pilot selection, qualification and refresher training. Chamber systems include a hypobaric and rapid decompression chamber and a normobaric hypoxia training system. There is also a Barany chair.

AMST supplies anti-G and breathing trainers too. These are an anti-G straining manoeuvres trainer, a positive pressure breathing trainer, a software controlled anti-G valve and the AIRFOX ROBD. For search, rescue and safety training, it offers an ejection seat trainer, an underwater escape training system and a helicopter rescue hoist trainer. The AIRFOX CRM VR crew trainer uses virtual reality.

Some flight training devices are made for specific military trainer aircraft. These are the Pilatus PC-21, the Pilatus PC-7 and the Alpha Jet. For night flying, the NIGHTFOX range includes a night vision training system, a virtual terrain image generation system and an integrated night vision training system. A pilot selection system is also on offer.

The visual systems business sells the VISIM image generator, with service and support. AMST also provides integrated logistic support. This covers customer care, assembly, start-up and training, material management, maintenance service, test and measurement, and technical documentation.

For new training sites, AMST offers infrastructure and turn-key solutions, from architectural design to building construction. Its customers include air forces and aviation training organisations. The company publishes news and events, lists career openings and has a company policy page.
