Tai Ping

Tai Ping Carpets International Limited is a Hong Kong maker of hand-crafted artisanal carpets and rugs for aviation, residential, hospitality and commercial interiors, founded in 1956 by brothers Lawrence and Horace Kadoorie with a group of international friends to develop industry and provide employment for migrant workers. Starting in a two-storey villa before moving to a purpose-built factory as demand grew worldwide, the company has refined its craftsmanship and contemporary rug design for more than sixty years and today sells through branded showrooms, including one at Nan Fung Place, 88 Connaught Road Central in Hong Kong, authorised distribution partners and online.

Aviation

• More than four decades serving the specialised aviation market, overseeing each project from design and sampling through manufacturing, installation and a lifetime of maintenance
• Custom carpets for private jets, with projects shown on its site including an Airbus A320neo cabin by interior designers Alberto Pinto and Yves Pickardt, an Airbus A320 completed by Comlux America with a customised Parcours Lin design from the Galerie Collection, and a Gulfstream G650 interior

Collections and craft

• Themed collections built around a unified inspiration through a blend of techniques, originality and design sensitivity, such as hand-knotted textures inspired by nature and the Overlay design that distils the handcrafted imperfection of stucco into variations of texture and tone
• Textures that combine tufting techniques in different pile heights for perspective and visual effects, and custom collaborations with design professionals
• A design search tool covering collections, designs, collaborators and colours, with an account option giving access to expanded content
