RADECO

RADECO is a manufacturer and distributor in Plainfield, Connecticut, that supplies robots, drones, air samplers and monitoring equipment to the energy, defense, security and research markets.

The RADECO brand is sixty years old. It separated from SAIC and has been privately owned since February 2000. Its drone and robotics division is in Monroe, North Carolina, outside Charlotte. In 2024 the company opened an office in Rio de Janeiro, called RADECO do Brazil. That office represents brands such as Boston Dynamics, Mirion Technologies, Rapid Assault Tools and Persistent Systems.

In defense and security, RADECO supplies all branches of the U.S. military, NATO, the Israeli Defense Forces, the Spanish Army, the Italian Army, the German Navy and others. The products include robots, drones, air samplers, training and other CBRN items.

The company offers a broad range of unmanned systems. These run from small collision-tolerant drones to large VTOL aircraft and zero-turn vehicles, plus the SPOT robot from Boston Dynamics. It has supplied power utilities, the Department of Energy, Homeland Security, militaries and decommissioning sites. It also develops custom unmanned aircraft solutions for the needs of each client.

For energy, RADECO supplies the nuclear power industry through every phase, from site assessment to operation and decommissioning. Its products include iodine sample media, emergency planning equipment, environmental monitoring instruments, ventilation, personal air samplers, drones and robots. The company says it has supported all major decommissioning and deconstruction efforts in the U.S. Department of Energy and nuclear power industry. Its product pages list air flow calibrators, continuous duty and grab air samplers, particulate filters, HEPA ventilation, antennas and radio networking devices.

RADECO also runs training. RADECO Studios is a film space in Plainfield for media, simulations and training products. It is also used to train agencies and companies on the SPOT robot. RADECO is a certified training contractor for Boston Dynamics. Drone and UAS pilot training takes place in Monroe. The company has also begun to offer its own software, including Blackstone CBRN software, mapping, lidar and augmented reality tools.
