Merit Helmets

Merit Helmets is a division of Merit Apparel, a family-owned business in St. Augustine, Florida (formerly Vero Beach), that has supplied customised flight helmets and flight gloves to military, commercial and civilian aviators for more than 30 years. The company is an authorised distributor of MSA Gallet flight helmets and describes itself as the largest and oldest distributor of the brand. Its helmets meet U.S. MIL SPEC and the DOI and USFS aviation helmet standards, and each helmet carries a one-year full warranty. Where possible the company conducts a personal interview with every helmet buyer to configure fit and set-up.

Products

• MSA Gallet LH050 MACH 1 and LH250 MACH 2 flight helmets for fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft, custom sized, engineered for centre of gravity and impact protection, with wide peripheral vision, NVG compatibility with the inner visor down for bird strike protection, built-in passive noise reduction, and sunlight and wind blast protection
• Integrated, customisable communication systems, including the Talk Through system, which mounts small external microphones on the helmet so air medical crews can hear patients without removing the helmet
• NOMEX flight gloves made from 100 percent DuPont NOMEX fabric with sheep hide palm inserts, worn by U.S. and European military pilots and crew
• More than 100 repair parts and upgrade kits, including coil cord communication packages, CEP mono and stereo kits, DOI certification kits with Fidlock magnetic or snap chinstraps, DOI upgrades for the LH050 and LH250, and extreme high noise microphones for wire and flex booms
