Flight Deck

Flight Deck Aviation is a flight school at Clinton Municipal Airport in Clinton, Iowa. It teaches people to fly in Eastern Iowa. The school says it focuses on the student experience and on a practical way into aviation.

Training covers private, instrument and commercial pilot levels. The school also offers discovery flights, where a new student meets an instructor, learns the aircraft and takes the controls in the air. Scenic tours are listed as well. Its programs aim at people who want a pilot certificate, a career in aviation or an airline job.

The training fleet uses Cessna 172S aircraft. One is a 2004 model and one is a 2001 model, both with 180 horsepower engines and IFR capability. Both have dual Garmin G5 instruments, and the site says they cruise at about 100 knots with around three hours of flying time on full tanks.

The school says its instructors are experienced, and some hold Gold Seal status. Ground training and flight lessons are planned together, with briefings before and after each flight. It says there are no long waitlists, and students pay as they go instead of paying large amounts up front. The owner is a retired Marine pilot who began general aviation flying in 2021.
