About FFPLUM Fédération Française d'ULM

FFPLUM is the French microlight federation, based in France. It supports pilots, clubs, schools and instructors who fly microlights, known in French as ULM. Its website is offered in French and English.

For pilots, the federation explains how to fly and where to fly. It covers the six classes of ULM, the pilot certificate, the licence, insurance and medical rules. It has a section called Handivol and a section on mechanics. People who want to learn can read about the pilot certificate, the ULM exam, training and discovery flights.

The federation also publishes rules. These include regulation documents, airspace, flight preparation and landing sites. It lists the ULM operations order dated 17 February 2025. It offers support for young people, the BIA aeronautical certificate, grants and a training scheme for in-flight companions.

For people who teach, FFPLUM keeps a network of affiliated clubs and schools. It trains instructors, lists instructors by department and runs knowledge updates. It also shares teaching programmes and technical sheets.

Safety is a large part of its work. The federation shares safety notices, parachute information and prevention advice. Pilots can file and read experience reports, called REX. It publishes a flight safety bulletin, a return to flying programme and has flight safety correspondents. It also uses ECCAIRS for occurrence reporting.

FFPLUM publishes news, an agenda of events and a magazine called ULM Info. It also has photos, videos and downloads. It runs three federal events: the Tour ULM Jeunes, the Mondial de l'ULM and Festi'ULM. A federal shop sells federation items.

The federation has elected officials, regional committees and working groups. It publishes ethics rules and a policy on protecting people in microlight flying. Its partners include French ministries, the DGAC, the national sports agency, the FAI, the Aero-Club de France and the Air and Space Museum.
