Eurisy

European association bridging space applications and society

About Eurisy

Eurisy is a Paris-based non-profit association of European space agencies, governmental offices, international organisations, research institutions and businesses involved in space, created in 1989 under French law at the initiative of Hubert Curien, former ESA Council chair and French minister. Hosted at the European Space Agency headquarters at 8-10 Rue Mario Nikis in Paris, it is mandated by its members, with active support from ESA, to act as a facilitator bridging space and society by raising awareness of new uses of satellite navigation, communication and Earth observation and by encouraging their take-up among professional and civil society communities. Eric Morel de Westgaver was welcomed as its new president, and the association publishes an annual activity report.

Activities

  • Stimulating dialogue and collaboration between public institutions, SMEs, industry and academia from the space and non-space sectors, and building relations with communities new to space
  • Identifying success stories in the use of satellite applications and inviting user organisations to share their experiences at workshops, conferences and projects, such as the Space Services for Resilience workshop in Tallinn with EUSPA, the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and the Estonian Space Agency, and the General Assembly 2026 in Belfast on unlocking space in Northern Ireland
  • The Space Service Hub, an initiative to overcome obstacles to the integration and adoption of satellite-based services by focusing on use and benefits rather than technical jargon
  • Documenting obstacles and opportunities through case studies, articles, surveys and interviews, and giving members and decision makers at local, national and European level bottom-up feedback and policy recommendations on user needs

Thematic areas
