ESRE

ESRE, the Association of European Space Research Establishments, is a non-profit association based in Brussels, Belgium. It aims to improve European cooperation in space research and to add value for the international space sector.

ESRE has four stated aims. The first is to deepen cooperation between its members, to coordinate and combine their space research. The second is to improve cooperation between the association, its members and outside parties in space, mainly in Europe and with European industry. The third is to support the global competitiveness of the European space sector. The fourth is to present ESRE and its research establishments as one voice, with harmonised views for European industry, governments and institutions on space and innovative research.

The association has two steering committees. One is the Strategy Executive Committee and the other is the Technical Advisory Body. The chair of ESRE is the director of INCAS, and the vice chair is the director of CBK. The secretary role changes every two years, following the chair, and is currently coordinated by INCAS. Experts from INCAS and ONERA lead the two committees.

ESRE publishes papers on its work. These include a joint position paper, its input to the European Commission and the European Space Agency on the Space Strategy for Europe and on the technology harmonisation process, and its contribution to the European Commission consultation on the Space work programme 2018 to 2020 of Horizon 2020.
