Delaware River & Bay Authority
Bridge, ferry and airport authority connecting Delaware and New Jersey
About Delaware River & Bay Authority
The Delaware River and Bay Authority, known as DRBA, is a bi-state agency that links Delaware and New Jersey. It runs the Delaware Memorial Bridge, ferries, airports, parks and a police force. The administration offices are in New Castle, Delaware, with other offices in Cape May and Lewes. Its stated mission is to connect people and places in the heart of the Northeast Corridor.
Aviation is one part of its work. The site says the Authority has five airports in Delaware and New Jersey. A page on the website covers them and the opportunities in regional aviation.
The about page gives its history. The first organizational meeting was held on February 6, 1963. A Board of Commissioners runs the agency. Each state governor appoints six commissioners, and the chair rotates between the two states every two years. Senior management includes an executive director, a deputy executive director and chiefs for finance, operations, human resources and information.
The Authority calls itself quasi governmental. Its income comes from tolls, ticket sales, leasing agreements and retail work. It does not get tax money from either state, though it sometimes applies for federal transport grants.
Other items on the home page include a two phase toll plan for the Delaware Memorial Bridge, live traffic cameras and E-ZPass customer service. The site also has a careers page. It says jobs range from internships and part time posts to full time work in engineering, finance, human resources, law enforcement and transport management. The main phone number is 302-571-6300.
