Champion Aerospace

Champion Aerospace is a manufacturer of ignition and power system components for piston and turbine aircraft engines, based at 1230 Old Norris Road in Liberty, South Carolina. The company traces the Champion brand to the early days of powered flight and makes spark plugs, magnetos, ignition harnesses, oil filters, turbine exciters, igniters and ignition leads, and airframe power products in a 240,000 square foot vertically integrated plant.

Approvals and facility

The quality management system is certified to AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015. The Liberty facility houses an FAA and EASA approved repair station that can test and repair all products Champion manufactures, and ships FAA 8130-3 airworthiness tags with new PMA products and repairs. In-house capabilities listed on the site include a complete ceramics plant for insulators and semiconductor igniter materials, a CNC machine shop, induction and vacuum brazing, AWS certified welding, PCB assembly in a clean room, vibration tables, HALT and temperature-altitude chambers, an EMI screening room and a magneto durability test facility.
