About BGR Aviation

BGR Aviation is the fixed-base operator at Bangor International Airport in Bangor, Maine. The airport owns and operates it. The FBO is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Bangor sits on the Great Circle Route. This makes it a first stop for many flights crossing the Atlantic, and a natural choice for quick tech stops and international arrivals. BGR Aviation calls itself the first East Coast point of entry into the United States. The airport has an 11,440 foot runway with CAT III approach capability. A full-service maintenance team works on site.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has its regional headquarters on site, and it is available night or day. BGR Aviation specializes in international clearance. A full government clearance technical stop averages 60 to 90 minutes. The FBO has round-the-clock access to Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, public health, pet and plant quarantine services, dispatch and the FAA air traffic control towers.

The FBO handles aircraft from private planes to wide-body jets. Its services include ground handling, refueling, passenger services and maintenance. Fuel is available at any hour by hydrant and by truck. Jet-A can be supplied with or without Prist additive. BGR Aviation is an independent provider that can work with all fuel carriers, and it works with the customer's fuel broker or reseller. Handling requests go through an online service request form or to BGR Dispatch on VHF 132.0. UNICOM is 122.95.

The facility has a private pilot lounge, a quiet room, a conference room, weather and flight planning tools and a fully equipped kitchen. Free Wi-Fi, satellite television, complimentary water and popcorn, and crew cars are available. Staff can help with hotel bookings, car rentals, transportation and local tips. Catering is available for on-site dining or onboard snacks, with local choices such as fresh Maine lobster, grilled salmon and blueberry pie.

BGR Aviation also handles cargo. It can handle any commercial cargo carrier flying today. Its ground crew runs cargo loaders, pallet transporters, scales, forklifts, baggage tugs, stair trucks, GPUs and air starts. It handles conventional, unconventional and bulk cargo, from lobsters to a crated demonstration MiG-29 fighter. Access to Bangor is uncongested, and there is no noise ordinance.

The airport's Foreign Trade Zone No. 58 covers a 33-acre on-airport complex with an import processing building and 29,000 square feet of heated warehouse or light manufacturing space. Interstate 95 crosses the city. Portland is 2 hours away, Boston 4 hours, New York 7 hours and the Canadian border 2 hours.
