Beyond Vision

Beyond Vision is a Portuguese manufacturer of autonomous drones and collaborative autonomous systems for defence, infrastructure, logistics and emergency response. Founded in Alverca in 2013 by a team of electrical engineering and computer science specialists, the company builds its aircraft in Portugal and is a NATO-registered supplier with an ISO 9001 certified management system. Its headquarters is at Rua Eusebio da Silva Ferreira 1, Alverca do Ribatejo, with further offices in Porto, Aveiro and Oeiras and in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and it reports deployments on several continents.

Aircraft

• BVT516: a Class 3 VTOL fixed-wing UAV that takes off vertically in tight spaces and flies forward for range, powered by two high-capacity batteries, assembled without tools for rapid deployment
• BVQ418: a portable Class 3 quadcopter with multiple compatible payloads, designed for fast, tool-free assembly and quick response
• BVQ825: a Class 3 heavy-lift octocopter with AI capabilities for high-payload, long-endurance missions, with twice the rotor count of a quadcopter

All three platforms use multiple communication links, including WiFi, Bluetooth, 4G and 5G with unlimited cellular range where coverage exists and a point-to-point radio link of up to 100 km, with redundancy for GNSS-denied environments.

Software and approach

beXStream is the company's mission builder and cloud-based management platform for multi-vehicle operations. Beyond Vision places AI algorithms at the core of each platform and decision, and describes autonomy as a way to improve decision-making, raise efficiency and enable missions that would be too dangerous, complex or costly for crewed systems. Applications shown on the site include maritime defence patrols, power line inspection, cargo delivery inside warehouses and wildfire monitoring. The company is listed as a trusted partner of the European Defence Agency and takes part in defence and aeronautics events.
