AV8 Flight School

AV8 Flight School is a flight training school and full-service FBO at 13601 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on Flying Cloud Airport in the Minneapolis area. It trains airplane and helicopter pilots under one roof, so prospective students can experience both types of flying before deciding on a path, and it charges no membership fees under a one-rate pricing structure with no hidden costs. The school's instructors come from a variety of backgrounds, which it says lets them match training methods and materials to each student.

Training

• Airplane and helicopter training for most FAA certificates, ratings and endorsements, offered under both Part 61 and Part 141; the structured Part 141 programme is aimed at career-oriented students and is integrated with Liberty University so that students can earn college credits, with in-house checkride approvals for Part 141 commercial and multi-engine courses
• Full-motion Redbird flight simulators that can be used for Part 141 or Part 61 training, and international flight training for overseas students
• A fleet that includes Piper Archer airplanes and Cabri helicopters with avionics such as Aspen PFD/MFD displays and the Garmin GTN 650
• Financing for airplane and helicopter training through personal loans from Stratus Financial, with programmes that combine multiple ratings

Services and community

• FBO ground services including maintenance for airplanes, helicopters and light-sport aircraft, pre-purchase aircraft evaluations, pitot-static testing, a weather computer and flight planning room, airplane, helicopter and light-sport rental and transient services on request
• Guidance on the path to a career: the school notes that a student flying four to five times a week can finish in about 12 months, that a private licence typically costs 15,000 to 17,000 dollars and a full commercial programme 65,000 to 70,000 dollars
