About Augusta Aviation

Augusta Aviation, Inc. is an FBO, maintenance shop, flight school and charter operator at Daniel Field (KDNL) in Augusta, Georgia. It was founded in 1940 by W.M. "Buster" Boshears as the Augusta School of Aviation and calls itself the oldest FBO in the Southeast.

About the company

The company started on a grass field called Schultz Hill in North Augusta and trained pilots for the Civil Pilot Training Program during World War II. In 1947 it moved to the site of today's Daniel Field, and in 1961 it took the name Augusta Aviation, Inc. Steven Gay is president.

Services

The maintenance department works from a 15,000 square foot hangar that also houses an avionics repair station. Its factory-trained A&P mechanics state over 200 years of combined experience and service Cirrus, Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Mooney, Grumman and other piston and turboprop aircraft.

  • Annual, 100-hour and turboprop phase inspections
  • Cirrus CAPS repacks and pre-purchase inspections
  • Repairs and AOG support, mainly at KDNL
  • Paint and bodywork for repairs (no full repaints)
  • 91.411 and 91.413 certifications, avionics troubleshooting and panel upgrades
  • Detailing with ceramic coatings and interior cleaning

Flight training

The flight school trains in a Cessna 172, a Piper Archer and a Cirrus SR20, with a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot on staff. Programs cover primary, instrument, commercial, CFI and CFII.

FBO and facilities

The FBO sells avgas and Jet A, offers hangar space and aerial tours, and runs King Air charter flights, including hazmat-certified flights and flights for LifeLink of Georgia.
