Rules over London

Every helicopter flight in London's controlled airspace needs clearance from air traffic control. Routes through the heliport's local area are for twin-engine helicopters, so direct flights into Battersea usually use aircraft such as the AW109 or AW139. Landing slots at the heliport must be booked in advance, and it is open 07:30 to 19:30 on weekdays and 08:00 to 18:00 at weekends.

Common questions

How much is a helicopter ride over London? Published tours start from £165 a seat for 30 minutes, and from about £245 for a private 50 minute tour for one person.

How long is a helicopter from Heathrow to central London? About 10 minutes to the London Heliport in Battersea.

Can a helicopter land anywhere in London? No. Battersea is the only licensed heliport; other landings need special permission.
