Virginia Economic Development Partnership
Economic development for companies locating and growing in Virginia
About Virginia Economic Development Partnership
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, known as VEDP, is the economic development organization for the Commonwealth of Virginia. It helps companies launch and grow in the state. The site says Virginia offers an ideal location, strong talent and a pro business climate.
VEDP supports businesses that are exploring Virginia for a new location. It also helps companies that are expanding an existing operation or studying growth options. Its work covers site selection, workforce solutions, incentives, analytics and coordinated guidance through each step of a project.
Project acceleration and investment support is one service. The team acts as a single point of contact across state, regional and local partners. Real estate advisory helps companies find sites, including certified shovel ready options, and guides them through due diligence.
Analytics and strategic insights cover operating cost comparisons, labor market data, supply chain mapping and real estate trends. Incentive coordination helps align state and local incentive packages with an investment and project timeline.
Workforce support is a major focus. The site reports 18,000 jobs supported by the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program and 91,000 new and retrained jobs supported through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, for 2014 to 2026. VEDP also connects employers with universities, community colleges and apprenticeship programs.
The site lists location advantages. It says a company in Virginia can reach half of the U.S. population within a day through highways, railways, airports and the Port of Virginia. It also cites a CNBC ranking that placed Virginia among the top three states for business in 2026.
VEDP lists success stories from Hilton, The Hershey Company and Micron. Hilton has more than 1,000 employees at its Fairfax County headquarters. Hershey has operated in the Shenandoah Valley for nearly 40 years. The site also shows a client roster that includes Amazon, Capital One and Eli Lilly.
