United Technical Operations, a division of United Airlines

United Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United Airlines. It is also called Tech Ops. The site says it brings more than 85 years of MRO experience. It maintains the United fleet and also offers service to other airlines.

The division says it has more than 50 line maintenance stations around the world and gives 24 hour service. It lists over 15,200 Tech Ops staff. Of these, more than 9,700 are aircraft maintenance technicians, inspectors, ground equipment and facilities technicians and utility specialists. More than 5,500 work in engineering, supply chain, planning and support. The site says United has more than 1,000 active mainline aircraft.

Line maintenance covers pre-departure checks, transit and overnight checks, and A-checks. Other work includes line engineering support, damage assessment, structural repairs, engine changes, landing gear strut seal replacement, flight control removal and installation, nondestructive testing, and avionics troubleshooting. Its Global Emergency Maintenance offer handles aircraft on ground cases for contracted airlines all year.

The site lists many aircraft types. For Boeing these are the 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and 787. For Airbus these are the A319, A320, A321, A330 and A380. Engines include Pratt and Whitney PW2000 and PW4000 models, CFM56-7B, CF6-80C2, LEAP, GE90, GEnx, RB211 and V2500.
