TEDAE

TEDAE, the Asociacion Espanola de Empresas Tecnologicas de Defensa, Seguridad, Aeronautica y Espacio, is the Spanish association of defence, security, aeronautics and space technology companies. It represents the sector before public bodies, supports its members in Spain and abroad, and is Spain's member of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD). Its first president and honorary president was Julian Garcia Vargas.

Role

• Advising and informing official bodies when required and in the interest of the sector, including on technology plans that strengthen Spain's industrial and technological base
• Informing members on market conditions and prospects, and coordinating statistical and economic studies and support for scientific and technical research
• Promoting good practice, ethics, transparency and sustainable development among members, and coordinating industry certification schemes in Spain
• Fostering information exchange, cooperation, training and consensus on business policy recommendations
• Supporting internationalisation as a strategic priority, through international promotion actions and an annual internationalisation plan for the defence industry

Organisation

TEDAE works through commissions for defence, security, aeronautics and space, which represent the association's interests and propose policy to the board, and through committees and working groups that prepare technical positions and recommendations. The aeronautics commission includes an industry committee coordinated by ITP Aero and a defence aeronautics programmes committee coordinated by Tecnobit (Grupo Oesia), with goals of growing the national aeronautics sector, positioning it in future programmes, coordinating the strategic aeronautics R and D agenda with the Spanish aerospace technology platform and promoting the role of aviation in society.

Members and news

Member news published on the site includes Indra Group's investment in Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and acquisition of Dares Technology, GMV's testing of ESA rover software in Fuerteventura, Navantia's cooperation with Larsen and Toubro on landing helicopter docks for the Indian Navy, and the Spanish defence industry's presence at MSPO in Poland. TEDAE publishes reports on the sector's contribution to strategic autonomy, security, technology and wealth creation in Spain.
