ANELLO Photonics

Silicon photonic optical gyro navigation for GPS-denied operations

ANELLO Photonics

About ANELLO Photonics

ANELLO Photonics develops inertial navigation systems and inertial measurement units built around its Silicon Photonic Optical Gyroscope, SiPhOG, which the company describes as the world's smallest high-precision optical gyroscope and the first integrated silicon photonic optical gyroscope. The company is based in Santa Clara, California, and its products are aimed at navigation in GPS-denied environments on land, in the air and at sea.

Products

  • Aerial INS: inertial navigation for autonomous aerial operations in GPS-denied environments, for commercial and defence platforms
  • X3 IMU: an ultra-compact three-axis optical gyro IMU for aerial missions, compatible with PX4 and ArduPilot
  • Maritime INS: navigation for autonomous maritime operations, including unmanned surface vessels
  • GNSS INS for ground vehicles: positioning for unmanned ground vehicles, trucks and other platforms on every terrain
  • IMU+: a rugged optical gyro IMU for robotics and construction autonomy

Markets

Applications listed on the site include defence and commercial aerial platforms, maritime, trucking and ground autonomy, agriculture, construction, mining, and mapping and surveying. Partner and customer logos shown include Lockheed Martin.

Team

ANELLO says its team are pioneers in silicon photonics and sensor technology. Chief executive Mario Paniccia spent more than 20 years in photonics and was an Intel Fellow and chief technology officer of Intel's silicon photonics group. Kevin Sullivan spent 14 years at Intel commercialising optical technology. Walter Stockwell previously worked on navigation and autonomy at DJI and Starsky Robotics, and Kirstin Schauble holds a PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford. The stated mission is high-performance, low-cost navigation sensors for every autonomous application.
