Steinair

SteinAir, Inc. is an avionics parts, wiring harness and custom instrument panel company at Faribault Municipal Airport (KFBL) in Faribault, Minnesota. Its stated mission is to provide good products at good prices with strong customer service, and its web store sells avionics and electrical components to homebuilders and aircraft owners while the shop builds harnesses and panels to order.

Products and services

• Avionics sales, including Garmin products and other panel equipment.
• Custom wiring harnesses built to the customer's equipment list.
• Custom instrument panels, cut and labelled for the chosen avionics.
• Electrical parts: switches, circuit breakers and fuses, connectors and pins, wire and coax, terminals, relays and lighting.
• Tools for avionics installation and wiring, such as crimpers, strippers and pin tools.
• Installation support for customers wiring their own aircraft.

The company is well known in the experimental and kit aircraft community for harnesses and panels, and the same products and skills apply to retrofit work on certified general aviation aircraft when carried out by an appropriately certificated installer.

Ordering

Parts are ordered online through the SteinAir store, with account, wishlist and returns pages, or by phone during office hours, Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM Central. Harness and panel work is quoted individually.

Working with SteinAir

Customers typically send their avionics list and panel layout; the shop quotes the harness, builds it with labelled connectors and ships it ready to route through the airframe, with the panel cut to match. The web store carries the same wire, pins, sockets, backshells, breakers and switches used in the shop's own work, so builders can finish the installation with matching parts. The site also lists a wishlist, returns policy and news feed.
