About AeroCreeper

AeroCreeper is a maker of adjustable height mechanics creeper chairs in Corinne, Utah. The product was designed by the father and son engineering team of Travis and Joel Hendrickson so that pilots and aircraft mechanics could work under and around low wing aircraft without the neck and back strain of lying on a flat creeper or kneeling. The seat adjusts through ten heights from 5 to 20 inches, and the company says every unit is inspected against its design specification before shipping.

Models

  • Original: ten manual quick adjust positions, heavy duty steel frame, padded backrest, 3 inch casters without locks and a fixed rectangular seat, for occasional to medium use.
  • Deluxe: the same frame with 3 or 4 inch casters with two front locks, a two position tilting ergonomic seat and an adjustable headrest, described as the most popular choice for everyday professional use.
  • Power-Lift: a power assisted lift system, powder coated frame, 4 inch locking casters, self adjusting ergonomic seat, headrest and tool tray, for busy shops and long days.

Accessories and replacement parts sold on the site include heavy duty and locking casters with urethane treads (from US$28 each), replacement seats and backrests, caster fenders, tool trays and AeroGear items, and bundles are offered on the specials page. Deluxe and Power-Lift models ship without charge in the lower 48 states.

Users

Since its introduction to the aviation market the creeper has also been adopted by boat yards, manufacturing plants, welders, and auto and tractor mechanics. Operating instructions, an owner's manual, FAQs and videos are published on the site, and the company attends industry events.

Why height adjustment matters

Low wing aircraft such as Pipers, Mooneys and Cirrus models put inspection panels, gear legs and belly drains between 5 and 20 inches off the floor, which is the range the seat covers, so the mechanic can sit upright rather than crouch. The seat rolls on casters, and the locking casters on the Deluxe and Power-Lift keep it in place while torquing fasteners.
