About the company

Cirrus Aircraft began in 1984, when Dale and Alan Klapmeier started work in the family barn in Baraboo, Wisconsin, on the VK-30 kit plane. In 1994 the company moved into a 30,000 square foot R&D facility in Duluth and soon after opened a composite production facility in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The SR22 received its type certificate in 2000, the turbocharged SR22T joined the line in 2010, and the Vision Jet was certified on October 28, 2016.
