SKY Perfect JSAT
Japanese satellite operator and SKY PerfecTV! broadcaster
About SKY Perfect JSAT
SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation is a Japanese satellite communications and pay-television group that describes itself as the first private company in Japan to launch a satellite. The group traces its origins to 1985 and the liberalisation of Japanese telecommunications; in April 2007 SKY Perfect Communications and JSAT combined under a joint holding company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Space Communications Corporation merged in on 1 October 2008, and in April 2026 the holding and operating companies were integrated into a single company. Its group mission is "Space for your Smile", and the business rests on two pillars: a space business providing satellite communications from space to the oceans, and a media business running the SKY PerfecTV! multichannel broadcasting platform.
Space business
- Procurement and long-term operation of its own geostationary satellite fleet, with ground stations distributed across Japan for redundant operations
- High throughput satellites Horizons 3e, launched with Intelsat, and JCSAT-1C
- A strategy combining geostationary satellites with low Earth orbit satellites for communications and Earth observation, including a ground station service for LEO satellites with KSAT and a memorandum with Airbus on optical data relay
- Satellite disaster information services with Zenrin and Nihon Koei, and QPS-SAR data used for damage assessment after the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake
- A proof of concept with University of Tokyo Matsuo Lab start-up EQUES on AI-assisted satellite operations, and participation in the Tokyo Space Cross Nexus start-up cluster

The company also announced syndicated sustainability-linked loan financing and continues to publish monthly subscriber numbers for its media platform.
