BIRD Aerosystems

BIRD Aerosystems is a privately owned Israeli defence technology company founded in 2001 and based in Herzliya. It develops airborne protection and surveillance systems that protect the air, sea and land fleets of governments and related agencies, and provides installation design and certification services for its systems.

Products

• AMPS (Airborne Missile Protection System): a family of self-protection systems for helicopters and aircraft against missile threats in dense threat environments. Integrated with BIRD's patented confirmation and tracking sensors, AMPS is designed for a zero false alarm rate and maximum warning time for countermeasures. The AMPS-M variant is certified on Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters with service bulletins from the Mil Design Bureau, and AMPS has been ordered by a NATO European client to protect VIP Dassault Falcon 7X and Airbus A319 aircraft.
• ASIO: an end-to-end airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solution for maritime and ground surveillance, search and rescue and patrol, combining all-weather sensors with BIRD's Multi Sensor Integration System (MSIS) mission management system
• Installation design, certification and maintenance services

Programmes

BIRD has protected Mi-17 helicopters operating under United Nations missions in Africa and delivered the ASIO maritime task force solution to Nigeria as part of the NIMASA Deep Blue project, after which the International Bargaining Forum removed Nigeria from its list of high-risk maritime nations. The company's chairman since July 2018 is a senior partner of FIMI Opportunity Funds.
