NEC Corporation of America, part of NEC Corporation, provides digital identity, facial biometrics, artificial intelligence and analytics technology for businesses in the United States. The company says its tools help build trust online, cut fraud and improve the user experience.

Digital ID is a main focus. It uses facial recognition to check who a person is and to decide what that person can access. NEC says it has invested in facial recognition for more than 20 years. The system includes liveness detection, which helps stop spoofing. NEC says this lowers the risk of account takeover, identity theft and fraud, and it removes the need for complex passwords.

Customers can use the Digital ID software development kit and API to build their own tools around biometric digital IDs. The kit has pre-built modules for biometric recognition. NEC also applies its biometrics to digital wallets. A wallet can use a person's unique biological traits to sign in and can store other IDs, such as driver's licenses and health cards.

NEC says Digital ID can be used in travel, retail, fintech and healthcare. It names access control and social media as example uses. It also lists banking, stadiums, theme parks and education as places where the tool can verify identity.

NEC says its biometric algorithms are rated number one for speed and accuracy by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. It also says they work well across different groups of people and when a face mask covers the nose and mouth.

NEC Corporation of America also lists solutions for artificial intelligence, analytics, data management, data cloud migration, identity cloud services, personally identifiable information redaction, intelligent product recommendation, submarine cables and manufacturing prediction. The Intelligent Document Digitizer turns information in emails and images into structured data.
