About MVRsimulation

MVRsimulation is a privately held US company that develops military simulation software, 3D content and simulators for warfighter training, with a focus on cost-effective, real-time visualisation running on off-the-shelf Windows computers and Microsoft DirectX graphics. Co-founders Richard Rybacki and W. Garth Smith first worked together in the mid-1990s at a Department of Defense consulting firm on a project connecting offices over a simulation intranet using the then-new DIS protocols, and built the company on commercial game-based technology. Its Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG) image generator, terrain generation tools and 3D terrain and model libraries are used mainly by the US Armed Forces and several NATO partners for flight simulators, UAS and RPA trainers, mission rehearsal and joint fires training.

Products

  • VRSG, a real-time image generator with a round-earth terrain architecture patented in 2003, developed in response to requirements from fixed-wing pilot and RPA/UAV pilot training customers, supporting high-speed low-altitude fixed-wing flight, night scenes with cultural lightpoints built from geospatial data, and sea states up to Beaufort 12 with vessel motion, 3D wakes, spray and reflections
  • Terrain Tools for building geospecific 3D terrain from real-world imagery, elevation and feature data, including airports from sub-inch imagery, urban environments created with CityEngine, imagery collected by the company's own UAV and terrain deformation for craters
  • An expansive 3D content library of models, and new terrain areas of interest built to order
  • Simulators: a first-person-view UAV simulator, the Deployable Joint Fires Trainer for digitally aided close air support, and a fixed-wing part task mission trainer, with 3D visuals supplied for European Participating Air Forces simulators

Company

MVRsimulation says its innovations have been driven by customer requirements, and its engineering staff combine simulation, training and game industry experience. It publishes product pricing, system requirements, software maintenance and technical support terms and a customer-requested features policy on its site. The company commissioned the painting Fight Like a Girl by aviation artist Rick Herter, depicting USAF Captain Kim (KC) Campbell returning a damaged A-10 to base in 2003, and donated it to the US Air Force Art Collection, and it has sponsored Honor Flight New England trips taking veterans to the memorials in Washington, DC.
