Lachant Group
Custom springs and metal parts since 1913
About Lachant Group
Lachant Group is a French family company, founded in 1913, that makes springs and custom metal parts. Its website describes it as a manufacturer of tailor-made parts and a co-development partner for customers, working to a specific specification supplied by each client. Aeronautics is one of the many sectors it serves, alongside automotive, construction, electronics, mechanical engineering, tooling, electrical, food, medical and luxury goods.
What Lachant Group makes
- Compression springs, the most common spring type, used to reduce vibration and shocks and produced in a range of materials and degrees of stiffness
- Torsion springs, each with a hooking solution created for the application
- Traction (extension) springs and shaped wire springs, made by bending wire into forms that can add functions beyond acting as a spring
- Flat springs cut from metal sheet, including Belleville washers, spring washers, clips, housings and contact sheets
- Cold formed and cut metal parts, fixing and connecting elements
- Sub-assemblies used in assembled industrial products, in small, medium and large series
Processes and quality
The group offers heat treatment, including quenching and tempering, to change the hardness, ductility and wear resistance of steels and metal alloys. Surface preparation covers degreasing and a decontamination process, so that machined components are free of grease, oil and chips, which matters in electronics and fluid applications. Laser cutting is also available, which the site presents as well suited to small series because it needs little or no tooling investment. A quality department with measuring and verification tools checks the parts, and the project managers, design office, production and inspection teams work with customers from design through to manufacture.
Investment and environment
Lachant Group is a member of the France 2030 programme and has installed a new cutting and stamping machine, supported by a France 2030 grant. At its Lachant Stamping site in Châteaudun it has started fitting photovoltaic panels intended to cut electricity consumption from the grid and is completing building insulation, as part of a green engagement programme that also covers recycling and energy savings. Regional co-financing from Centre Val de Loire and an ADEME grant support the replacement of old gas heating at one of its buildings.
