International Airlines Group

International Airlines Group, known as IAG, is the parent company of several airlines and aviation brands. These are British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, Aer Lingus, LEVEL, IAG Loyalty and IAG Cargo. It is registered in Spain, and its corporate head office is in London.

IAG was formed in January 2011. Its shares trade on the London and Spanish stock exchanges. The site says the group has seven operating companies, including five airlines, and about 75,000 employees. It reports a fleet of 627 aircraft and 285 destinations across 93 countries.

The group describes a light structure at the centre. Each operating company runs its own strategy and is accountable for its own financial results. The airlines have different roles. British Airways is a full service carrier with a global market. Iberia is a full service carrier for Latin America and North Atlantic routes. Vueling is a low cost carrier on European routes. Aer Lingus is a value carrier on the North Atlantic, and it has flown since 1936. LEVEL is a low cost long haul brand.
