About Hélicoptères Guimbal

Hélicoptères Guimbal designs and sells the Cabri G2, which the company calls the most advanced two seat piston engine helicopter. It is based at the Aix-en-Provence aerodrome in Les Milles, France, and supports customers through a worldwide partner network, a training and customer support portal and a UAV project listed on its site.

Cabri G2 features

  • Three bladed main rotor designed with training in mind, giving autorotation performance the company says exceeds the minimum US Army requirement by 50 percent
  • Fenestron tail rotor, a patented shrouded design with no lubrication required
  • Carbon fiber monocoque fuselage
  • 170 litre crash resistant fuel cell
  • Energy absorbing seats
  • Glass cockpit with an electronic pilot monitor
  • No calendar limited components on the main rotor

Certification

Guimbal states that the Cabri G2 is certified to EASA CS-27 and FAR 27, which it describes as making it the only piston helicopter certified to those rules. The fuselage is certified to withstand a direct lightning strike, and occupant protection was validated in certified crash tests, with test images published on the site.

Support and network

The website lists a long network of partner organisations, including flight schools, maintenance companies and operators in Europe, North America and elsewhere. Guimbal also provides the MOS2G support area, training pages and a customer support portal for owners and operators.
